About Me:
Up until a few years ago, my family bred and showed Arabian horses, primarily Straight Egyptian lines.  I've recently moved from Mid Michigan to Potomac Falls, VA with my boyfriend Randy. He doesn't really like the critters, but he tolerates them because I like them. He's recently become fascinated with watching my tarantulas eat. I don't think I could possibly love anybody more than I love him, he's just wonderful!
I've always loved frogs and when I was little I was constantly catching frogs in one of our ponds and trying to persuade my mom that they really would be good pets. While I never got to keep an actual frog when I was young, I was permitted to collect tadpoles every spring and grow them up before releasing them back into the pond.  I got my first frogs (X. laevis) about 8 years ago and just love them.  They have the most interesting behaviors. The pair have since passed away, but I hope to have more soon. I've also kept /Bombina orientalis/ and /Pyxicephalus edulis/ in the past. .
I never, ever thought I would have a tarantula.  I didn't like spiders and wanted nothing to do with them.  Right before Thanksgiving of 2002, my younger brother came home drunk with a tarantula.  Apparently his friend gave it to him when my brother was too drunk to remember that he hates spiders, and isn't responsible enough to keep a pet.  So, I agreed to take her so that she would at least get taken care of.  Little did I know how that 1 tarantula would spark an obsession.
My offline hobbies include reading (Clive Cussler and Dean Koontz are my favorites), fishing, and listening to music, any type, as long as it's not 80's rock.
