This lizard was spotted at Salt Creek, Death
Valley, on 01 Apr 2000 around noon Pacific Standard Time. When I
got too close, he ran about 15 feet, then stopped and curled his
tail over his back, waving it to show the black-and-white stripes
on the underside. Notice how well the lizard's coloration
blends in with the rocky desert floor. |
